How to install and use IRSSI on Ubuntu?

Irssi is a terminal based IRC client for UNIX/LINUX systems.

Installation on Ubuntu

To install on Ubuntu simply do the following:

1. Install via the apt-get command

$ sudo apt-get install  irssi

2. Run on terminal

$ irssi

3.  To connect to a server (for example freenode) type:

/connect irc.freenode.org

4. To join a channel (like #ubuntu) type:

/join #librecad

5. To switch between ‘screens’ (for example from The Message of the Day Screen to #ubuntu) press:

ALT+RIGHT ARROW KEY or ALT+LEFT ARROW KEY

6. To change your nick name, simple type:

/nick yournewnickname

To see logs of your conversation:

http://riesvantwisk.com/cms/home/irc-logs/librecad-irc-log.html
